Routine Prenatal Care
Prenatal care is one of the most important forms of preventive medicine that can culminate in a safe, healthy birth.
Women’s HealthFirst is your local, highly advanced practice built to deliver expert, empathetic, evidence-based care beginning with your very first prenatal visit. The first step in working to achieve desired pregnancy outcomes starts with the partnership between you and your doctor. When there is a foundation of a great working relationship with open communication, everyone is on the same page to provide the best care for the mom-to-be.
Our in-office protocols for providing you with ample resources and knowledge includes information packets to prepare you for your pregnancy. Other tools and resources available to you are amniocenteses, nonstress tests, and biophysical profiles, which are used to help us collectively monitor your baby’s well-being. If it is deemed that you may be at risk for certain conditions before or during pregnancy, we will help you manage and navigate your pregnancy with maternal-fetal medicine specialists wherever you choose to deliver.
First Prenatal Care Visit
During your first visit, we will perform an ultrasound to determine the viability of your pregnancy and give you an accurate due date. From that point forward, each trimester, you will receive an update on the fetus’s development and an ultrasound – including the optional, noninvasive nuchal translucency ultrasound at 12 weeks to determine whether your baby has Down’s Syndrome or not. Then, we craft a unique plan that outlines the schedule of upcoming prenatal visits and what will be done at each of them. After that, the floor is yours to ask your physician as many questions as you need to or any concerns that may trouble you.
We are available to you at any of our five offices, even allowing late evening and Saturday appointments. It’s encouraged that you bring your partner or family members along whenever possible, so your support system is always close by. Our goal is to have you walk out of our practice feeling informed, prepared, secure, and supported on your journey to come.
